Dick Van Dyke was on Wait! Wait! Don’t tell me! on October 23, 2010, and revealed that the theme song to the Dick Van Dyke Show had lyrics… who knew?!
He said he thinks about things – what he’s done in the past – based on how much fun he has doing them, and those 5 years on that show were so much fun, the entire cast wished they could always keep having fun together. He said Carl Reiner was a brilliant writer, and that he’d still be doing it if Carl’d let him!
I love they lyrics to this because they embody what Positive Psychology is all about… so ENJOY!
(So without further ado… to the tune of the Dick Van Dyke Show’s theme song, here are the lyrics, written by Morey Amsterdam:)
So you think that you’ve got trouble?
Well, trouble’s a bubble
So tell ole Mr. Trouble to get lost!
Why not hold your head up high and
Stop cryin’, start tryin’
And don’t forget to keep your fingers crossed.
When you find the joy of living
Is loving and giving
You’ll be there when the winning dice are tossed.
A smile is just a frown that’s turned upside down
So smile, and that frown’ll defrost.
… and don’t forget to keep your fingers crossed!
